Applications open for University of East Anglia Dental School

🦷 DENTAL SCHOOL APPLICATIONS ARE OPEN

People across Lowestoft, Beccles and our villages know how difficult it can be to access NHS dentistry. Our area has too often been seen as a dental desert, with too many residents struggling to get the care they need.

The first issue I raised in Parliament after being elected was the need for better dental access locally, and since then I have been campaigning alongside colleagues Alice Macdonald and Ben Goldsborough MP for South Norfolk for a new dental school at the University of East Anglia.

That’s why it is really welcome to see applications now open for the East of England’s first dental school at UEA.

Alongside the Government’s wider plans, including 700,000 extra urgent dental appointments, expanding dental training places and increasing opportunities for overseas-qualified dentists to work in the NHS, this is another important step in the right direction.

There is still much more to do to rebuild NHS dentistry, but this is positive news for communities like ours.
