about jess

I am proud to have served as the Member of Parliament for Lowestoft since July 2024, representing communities across Lowestoft, Beccles, and our villages.

Since being elected, I have worked to be a visible, accessible, and active local MP — supporting residents, championing local communities, and ensuring our area has a strong voice both locally and in Parliament.

Every week I meet with residents, businesses, schools, charities, healthcare providers, emergency services, and community organisations across the constituency. Whether it is supporting local campaigns, visiting schools and employers, discussing community concerns, or helping residents with individual cases, staying connected to the people and communities I represent is at the heart of my work.

Before entering Parliament, I worked for a domestic abuse and children’s charity, campaigning to change legislation and policy to improve the lives of women and vulnerable children.

This included campaigns to improve support for young carers, getting children recognised as victims of domestic abuse in their own right, extending coercive controlling behaviour post separation, and making non-fatal strangulation pornography a criminal offence.

Through this work, I saw first-hand the vital role that public services, local organisations, and grassroots action play in improving people’s lives, and the difference that determined campaigning and collective action can make in delivering positive change for communities.
