Welcoming East Suffolk Youth Council to Parliament
It was a pleasure to recently welcome East Suffolk Youth Council to Parliament.
I really enjoyed taking them on a tour of the Houses of Parliament and talking through how our democracy works. The highlight for me was sitting down together in a committee room afterwards, where they didn’t hold back and gave me a proper grilling with some thoughtful and challenging questions.
We also had a really interesting discussion about the idea of a social media ban, and it was great to hear such a wide range of views from the group.
Our Youth Councillors represent the voices of young people across East Suffolk, and after seeing their curiosity, confidence and passion, I wouldn’t be surprised if a few of them end up sitting on the green benches as MPs themselves one day.
