Speaking to ITV News About Women’s Safety in Hotels

I spoke to ITV News over the weekend about this news story: https://www.itv.com/.../travelodge-faces-pressure-over...

Anyone staying away from home would expect the hotel they are staying in to have strong procedures for protecting their safety.

In this horrendous case, it’s clear that Travelodge failed to protect a woman who deserved much more than an apology and an insulting £30 voucher as compensation for her ordeal.

Along with nearly 100 cross party MPs, I have written to Travelodge’s CEO calling for an urgent meeting so we can get answers on how this could have happened and what measures they have put in place to reassure women that they are safe when they stay in a Travelodge.

Every business has a role to play in tackling violence against women and girls, and it is a responsibility that hotels must take extremely seriously.
