CELEBRATING INDEPENDENT BOOKSHOP WEEK
It was a pleasure to attend the Independent Bookshop Week reception in Parliament this week, celebrating the incredible contribution that independent bookshops make to communities across the UK.
As Independent Bookshop Week marks its 20th anniversary, it’s a timely reminder of the vital role these local businesses play - not only in supporting authors and publishers, but in fostering a love of reading, bringing people together, and enriching our high streets.
I’m particularly proud of the fantastic independent bookshops we have in our community, including Moral Of The Story Bookstore and Beccles Books Ltd. Their passion, expertise and commitment to encouraging reading and supporting local culture make a real difference.
I encourage everyone to support their local independent bookshop this week and discover their next great summer read.
Thank you to the The Booksellers Association and everyone involved in organising this year’s celebrations.
