MEETING WITH SUFFOLK FAMILY CARERS
Last week, during Family Carers Week, I was delighted to meet with local carers and hear directly about their experiences.
Family carers make an invaluable contribution to our communities, often balancing caring responsibilities alongside work, family life and their own wellbeing.
I listened to carers speak about the challenges they face accessing carers’ assessments, navigating the benefits system, finding flexible work that fits around caring responsibilities, and the importance of accessible facilities, including accessible toilets.
I’m incredibly grateful to Suffolk Family Carers for organising the event and for the incredible work they do every day to support unpaid carers across Suffolk. Their dedicated team provides vital advice, advocacy and practical support to carers when they need it most.
Thank you to everyone who shared their experiences and concerns with me. Their insights will continue to inform my work to ensure carers receive the recognition and support they deserve.
