Jess Asato says “It’s time for change” as General Election is called
Jess Asato, Labour’s Parliamentary Candidate for Lowestoft has issued a rallying cry after Prime Minister Rishi Sunak called a General Election today [22nd May].
Jess Asato has described the General Election as a “chance to restore hope and pride in our country and local communities,” but warned that the result was not a foregone conclusion.
Reacting to the announcement of a General Election, Jess Asato said:
“The Tories have failed and it’s time for change.
“Keir Starmer has changed Labour into a party that rolls up its sleeves and gets to work alongside people to solve the country’s problems.
“Only Labour has a long-term plan that will unleash a decade of national renewal. But the change we need won’t happen by itself. This General Election is not a foregone conclusion. My team and I will work hard for every single vote until the polls close at 10pm on Thursday 4 July.”
Jess Asato grew up in Cavenham near Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk and has worked in the charity sector campaigning to change policies for vulnerable women and children.
Alongside pledging to be a full time MP with no second jobs, she has made five commitments:
1. Cut energy bills and support local residents with the cost of living
2. Slash NHS waiting lists with thousands more GP and Dentist appointments
3. Take back our streets with more police to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour
4. Support good local jobs through investment in green energy and offshore wind
5. Regenerate our local towns and connect our villages through decent public transport.
