EVERYONE SLEEPING ROUGH THIS WINTER TO BE OFFERED A ROUTE OFF THE STREETS
The Prime Minister has announced an additional £442 million in funding to offer everyone sleeping rough a route off the streets this winter.
This takes the total investment made by Labour in tackling homelessness to over £4 billion over the next three years.
New accommodation and support will be rolled out by local authorities, learning from innovative approaches put into place during the pandemic.
The money will go towards practical help – including housing, mental health, and addiction support – as well as emergency accommodation.
Andy Burnham has made ending rough sleeping a key priority as Prime Minister, and will host a first-of-its-kind National Summit in the autumn to discuss how everyone from across society can come together to deliver on that mission.
Those who are in this country illegally will not be eligible for support under this programme.
