LAUNCH OF THE NEW EAST COAST PARTNERSHIP
For too long, too many people in Lowestoft have been locked out of work, training and opportunity, not because they lack talent or ambition, but because the right support has not been there when they needed it.
That has to change.
That’s why I was really pleased to host the launch of the new East Coast Partnership, bringing together the NHS, employers, education providers, the voluntary sector, DWP, Sizewell C, East Coast College, Suffolk Police and many others with one clear goal:
To create 500 jobs, training and apprenticeship opportunities across Lowestoft, Great Yarmouth and Felixstowe over the next year.
This matters deeply for Lowestoft.
We know our town faces real challenges: health inequalities, poverty, too few routes into good work, and too many people being left behind. But we also know Lowestoft has huge strengths: talented people, brilliant local organisations, major employers, and a community that wants to see our town thrive.
Getting people into good work is about more than a payslip. It means confidence, independence, better health, stronger families and more money being spent in our local shops, cafés and businesses.
When local people get the chance to work, train and build a future here, the whole town starts to rise.
This partnership is a step in the right direction, and I’ll keep pushing to make sure Lowestoft gets the jobs, skills and investment we need and deserve.
