Bringing Agencies Together to Address Flooding and Sewage Problems in Kessingland

Last Friday I invited a range of agencies to Kessingland to better understand the chronic flooding and sewage issues that local residents are facing.

I was delighted that representatives from Anglian Water, Suffolk County Council, Suffolk Highways, East Suffolk District Council, the Environment Agency, Kessingland Parish Council and local residents attended, so we could look at this properly, on the ground, and start working through solutions together.

To be honest, what residents are dealing with just isn’t good enough.

People told me about sewage backing up into their homes, flooding in their gardens, and problems that have been going on not just for years but in some cases decades.

I know this issue has been raised many times before, and people are understandably frustrated. But I’m determined we keep pushing this until we see real progress.

Thank you to everyone who spoke to us and shared their experiences, I’ll keep you updated as we move this forward.
