First Turbine Installed at East Anglia THREE Wind Farm

Brilliant news for Lowestoft and our coastline.

ScottishPower and Masdar have installed the first turbine at East Anglia THREE, with 115-metre blades setting a new UK record for the biggest ever manufactured and used here in the UK. Built by Siemens Gamesa, these blades are the first step in delivering this £4 billion project, which will eventually power the equivalent of more than 1.3 million homes with clean energy.

This is good news for Lowestoft too. ScottishPower has already revealed plans for a new £8 million East Anglia THREE operations and maintenance base at Lowestoft’s PowerPark, expected to have capacity for around 100 people and create additional employment opportunities for the town and local area.

Lowestoft has a huge role to play in Britain’s clean energy future, and I will keep backing the investment, infrastructure and skilled local jobs needed to make sure our town benefits.
