Lowestoft's tidal flood barriers to stop due to funding shortfall

The news that work on the Lowestoft flood barrier is stopping is a major blow for the town. Jess Asato, Labour's Parliamentary Candidate for Lowestoft said:

"This news that the flood barrier is not going forward due to lack of Government funding is a devastating blow for Lowestoft. We know it won’t be long before we get a repeat of the havoc caused by the floods in 2013.

The Conservative Govt is failing to protect people’s homes, businesses and jobs. Local people can’t afford another flood or to put off the regeneration of the town. This is exactly why Labour has pledged to prioritise coastal communities and unlock funding for coastal defences."
