SAFEGUARDING CONFERENCE AT THE JAMES PAGET HOSPITAL
It was a privilege to speak at James Paget University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s Safeguarding Conference today and thank the staff and specialist services working every day to support victims and survivors of domestic abuse.
A special thank you to Jane Oldman, the hospital’s Health Independent Domestic Violence Adviser, and to Leeway Domestic Violence and Abuse Services for the vital support they provide.
Violence against women and girls is a national emergency, and our NHS has a crucial role in recognising the signs of abuse, responding compassionately and connecting people with specialist help.
As the Government’s adviser on violence against women and girls for the Department of Health and Social Care, I am determined to help build a health service where there is no wrong front door and every opportunity is taken to offer support.
