Kirkley Family Hub to Become a Best Start Family Hub

I am absolutely delighted that Kirkley Family Hub will become a Best Start Family Hub, backed by £240,000 that the Government have given to Suffolk County Council to roll out the scheme.

In October and again last month I wrote to the Council to argue that our town needs a Best Start Family Hub – I am glad they have listened and I look forward to working with them to make sure that local parents and children take advantage of this vital programme.

Best Start Family Hubs build on the success of the last Labour Government’s Sure Start scheme – and as someone that used Sure Start when raising my children, I know just how important it is that there is a one-stop shop for support.

The Government have published guidance this week that ensures that all Hubs will offer preventative and universal health services, particularly for babies, supportive parenting advice and open access activities like stay and play, help with children's learning and development at home, and early support for children with additional needs.
