YOUTH HUB FOR NORTH LOWESTOFT

Since 2010, youth centres across Suffolk have disappeared as youth services across the county were cut by the then Conservative-run Suffolk County Council. That loss has been felt particularly in communities like North Lowestoft, where many residents still remember the closure of facilities like Boston Lodge.

At the same time, concerns around antisocial behaviour, isolation, mental health and lack of opportunities for young people have only grown. I regularly hear from parents, schools and residents who want to see greater investment in positive opportunities and safe spaces for our young people.

I’ve been campaigning to bring a Youth Hub to our area, and I’m delighted that the Government has now confirmed that East Suffolk has been selected as part of the next phase of the national rollout.

However, the final location of the Youth Hub has not yet been decided. I want to see it based in North Lowestoft, where I believe it can make the biggest difference and help ensure that young people across our community can access the support and opportunities they deserve.

That’s why I need your support. I’m calling on Suffolk County Council to work with the Government, local organisations and our community to bring the new East Suffolk Youth Hub to North Lowestoft, and to commit the local support and investment needed to make it a success.
