E-Bikes Petition

The recent reports of illegal motorbikes and converted e-bikes causing chaos across Lowestoft, Beccles and our villages have left far too many people feeling unsafe. We’ve even seen the heartbreaking death of a family dog because of this reckless criminal behaviour.

This isn’t about people who use legal e-bikes responsibly. It’s about stopping the sale of illegal conversion kits that can turn an ordinary bicycle into an unlicensed, uninsured vehicle capable of speeds of up to 40mph.

Whether I’m speaking to residents in Lowestoft, Beccles, Oulton Broad, Carlton Colville, Kessingland, or the surrounding villages, this is one of the issues that comes up time and again. People want to feel safe walking their streets, using our parks and enjoying our public spaces.

The only way to properly tackle this problem is to stop it at source. That’s why I’m backing calls to ban the sale of these dangerous conversion kits.
